Why I’ll never be a Yogi

10 02 2012

Well for starters I fucking hate yoga… ok that’s a little strong …. but i honestly don’t like doing it…. And while I do have some very cool yogi friends, I find them to be the exception to the annoying hippy rule.

So why this vauguely cunty post? lol It was just something I was pondering while skittering around on the black ice and feeling the burning in my lungs bc I’m a pussy and a have stupid little lung problems that prevent me from breathing nicely in the cold.   IT causes me all kinds of fun lung pain to run in the cold, not to mention trying to sort clothes to wear (I’d like to point out that it’s only like minus 2, I know wussie)… plus there is the pure thrill of running a road that randomly has patches of invisible ISANELY slippery ice.. good times

Add in the fact that the majority of drivers here react to a runner on the road like city folk react to a black bear on the side of the road, ie stupidly… why in gods name would I venture outside and go for a run?  I spent all this money and this yoga mat…   And there is a wall of windows with sun streaming in… perfect…

Yet .. it seems I’d actually rather torture myself that do the damn yoga.    Don’t get me wrong , like most exercise when you force yourself to ‘get out’ and do it… you feel good, at least when you’re done.  But yeah I just haven’t been able to force myself to pull out the matt, I react to it mentally like a petulant little child… internally pouting, stomping and shouting ‘don’t wanna’….

So much so that I went out today.. skittering about on the ice.. and am sitting on the couch still nursing my ouchy lungs ( like what do you do for THAT??) And all I can think is… gee I hope it warms up soon so I can go running like everyday… and force myself to do yoga… 2-3 times a week.

So yeah…. I’ll never be a yogi….  but it does make me appreciate the love hate love relationship I have with running:  and the hate love hate I have for biking, if only I could get over my hate hate hate relationship with swimming perhaps I could actually do a triathlon one day…

That is all, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

The Secret Apple

1 09 2011

So there is this book at school… and there are just no words…  So I’ll post the pictures instead.  Only in Taiwan.. I swear… the best part was the reason we found the book in the first place was another teacher was reading stories to the kids and got half way through the book and then realized… WHOA

Why Not?

1 06 2011

So what have I been to in the past few months?

Well nothing and a lot.   As I mentioned a few months back I had an epiphany.  About living life a for  the moment, and having a good time.  Some people say I need to focus and get my life on track, and perhaps they are right.  But I have spent a lot time focusing on things that I don’t actually hold to be important to me.

For the past few months I have just been enjoying life, and having a good time.  My recent motto in life has been “why not”, when faced with an opportunity I think well why not?  If I can’t think of a good reason not to, I’ve been shrugging and going with the flow.

And so far it’s panned out pretty well.  😀  Of course the first and most important why not is, because I don’t want to.  Don’t misunderstand this isn’t some kind of ‘yes man’ moment.  I’m not blindly agreeing to anything and everything based on some principal, honestly I’m only doing things that I’m either indifferent to or that I want to do on some level or other.

Oddly it seems to make saying no to things easier, like there are no rules of I can’t  say yes to this or that if I want to.. so when I don’t want to do something it’s a pretty clear feeling.   You know how sometimes you wiffle back and forth and you’re not really sure if it’s that YOU don’t Read the rest of this entry »

Seminar

13 11 2010

So this weekend (Ok sadly I wrote 90% of this the weekend after my birthday AT the seminar….) I’m in a seminar for Eye’s open hypnosis.  The opportunity came up just before my birthday and I though..  it’s something I’m interested in so I should step outside of my box and give it a go.  And I’m really glad I decided to to it.  So far we’re halfway through the first day, and it’s been really interesting, there have been many cool discussions and demonstrations.

Coming way out to XiZhi (ShiJr) and tying up my whole weekend isn’t something I’ve been excited about, but it’s been a really positive experience so far.  Brian, who is giving  the seminar is really good at what he does and is very intelligent and personable.  So it’s not only interesting, it’s quite fun because he’s got a quirky sense of humor.

Plus he’s got a Siamese cat.. which we all know is my true love ;0)  He’s Siamese yowling right now.. aka someone pay attention to me damn it.

We’ve been talking about hypnosis and NLP and how to use it in therapy, and influence.  My favourite book, Influence: science and practice has been brought up several times which of course has pleased me to no end.

There are 6 of us here taking the seminar, one girl is interesting resistance to physical responses, but then he used her analyzing and resistance to physical cues to distract her and her critical factor  suddenly you could see her respond to things that she was clearly resistant to.  She described it very well, that you are at crossroads, to refuse or to go into the ‘fog’.  It’s like  lucid dreaming, when you  realize you’re dreaming you have a few seconds to make a choice; wake up or dive in.  Refuse it, or play along.

Anyway the weekend was very interesting, Brian actually did some therapy on me and it really helped.  He also showed us how to do some of the therapies on and with others.  Interestingly Brian is one of the best at what he does and is quite well known in the US but over here there isn’t much awareness.

Then a few weeks ago Brian had a show at the Comedy club and I was determined to enjoy the show and not be on the stage.  In order to make sure I got to watch I brought two of my friends who I had fairly good reason to be sure that they would be good subjects.

Wooo nelly I was right.   I had a fantastic time.  Unfortunately there weren’t many people at the show but we had a great time.  We all hung out having drink afterwards and ended up at a KTV of all places.  😀

Here are a couple of video clips from the show 😀

Little Stories: Things that made me Smile.

7 09 2010

On Sunday, aside from the running out of gas fiasco (which by the way was so ridiculous because I was ‘saving the day’ and then ran out of gas… fail).

But what got me giggling and kept me going for hours, was turning around to see one of my friends bum.  Amazing lol, his shorts were torn from belt line almost to the end of the leg seam.

Too bad he wasn’t wearing more fantastic underpants, like tighty whities, or something in a nice shade of fuchsia.  When I asked him why he was wearing them, it turns out that he has two pairs of the same short, and these were the ones he was throwing out.  But when leaving the house he thought they were the good ones tossed them on and ran out the door.  Not realizing his ass was to the wind until he got to the gaming place.  😀  FANTASTIC  totally made my day .. tee hee.

And today on may way home from work, I was waiting at the light, pondering baking and snacks for my party when I noticed the dude directing traffic was mighty into it.  And when I say into it, I mean he was bouncing around like a happy puppy enthusiastically directing, stopping, and other such trafficy things.

He wasn’t nearly as exciting and fun as this guy, but he was clearly really taking it seriously and was rather enthusiastic.  IT amused me to no end, must have been his first day or something 😛
